This is an introduction to dimes, nickels, and pennies. First, I show you dimes and pennies, and we work with those only. This is easy since they are your tens and ones. Then I explain what a nickel is (5 cents), and we work out the total for various coin combinations, keeping in mind that two nickels make 10 cents. I explain how a quarter is worth 25 cents. We figure out how much two or three or four quarters are, in cents, and learn why these coins are called "quarters". Then we go on to various coin-counting exercises that include quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies -- and even Mathy gets to do some of those!
