Islam Makhachev retained his lightweight title despite a valiant effort from featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski. Makhachev took home a unanimous decision in the main event from the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia. It was a truly excellent contest that was back and forth for the full 5 rounds, both men having success in their rivals strong suit. It was interesting to see Makhachev fighting on the back foot and actually doing well there, timing some lovely techniques capitalising on Volkanovskis aggression. #mma #islammakhachev #alexandervolkanovski #ufc
