🥊 FIGHT DESCRIPTION: Redkach (23-5-1, 18 KOs), the 33-year-old Ukraine native fighting out of Los Angeles, offered little beyond his ability to absorb punishment without going down. After a slow opening, Garcia began to take control in the fourth round, digging to the body and landing clean combinations, including sharp left hooks. Redkach, clearly frustrated, even stuck his tongue out at Garcia in the closing seconds after eating more clean shots. Garcia (36-2, 21 KOs), 31, of Philadelphia, kept pressing forward in the fifth, hurting Redkach with a right hand late in the round and showing little respect for his opponent’s offense as he dictated the action. By the seventh round, the punishment had visibly mounted, as Redkach suffered a cut above his left eye. The beating continued into the ninth, prompting referee Benjy Esteves to briefly pause the action so the ringside doctor could check Redkach. The fight was allowed to continue, but Garcia—headlining at Barclays Center for the eighth time since its 2012 opening—kept pouring on the pressure. In a shocking moment just before the end of the round, Redkach bit Garcia on the left side of the neck during a clinch. “He bit me. He said ‘Mike Tyson’ when he bit me,” Garcia said. “I told the ref, ‘He bit me.’ I thought I needed stitches or something. That’s my first time ever getting bit in a fight.
