With WWF Raw airing on the USA Network and WCW Nitro airing live on TNT every Monday night, fans would choose which show to watch. This resulted in a TV ratings battle between the two companies. This time period in pro wrestling saw record viewers tuning in every week to see the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, the nWo, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Goldberg and Sting. WCW continues to build towards Halloween Havoc 1997 with appearances from Hollywood Hogan and Roddy Piper. Hogan wants Sting to appear at Halloween Havoc so he can get a good look at what happens to Piper, but Hogan gets more than he bargained for when The Stinger surprises the whole nWo in this week's episode of Nitro. On WWF Raw is War Shawn Michaels and his new faction get officially named when Bret Hart calls them "nothing but a bunch of degenerates".
