This is just the first step in a progressive drill set. The arm fighting and collar ties or "neck control" lead up to other things that can be done from that position. But this is just the first step...so, focusing on arm fighting...gaining and maintaining control of your opponent's arms while simultaneously defending yourself from the same objective that your opponent has, to gain and maintain control of your arms. Collar ties can be used for pass throughs, redirections, getting to side control, snap downs, arm and head locks, etc.
