In the 1950s, Texas professional wrestling was dominated by the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and structured into fiercely competitive regional territories, primarily managed by Southwest Sports in Dallas. Key promoters were able to tap into early television broadcasts which helped popularize the sport, and while televised matches had initially threatened live ticket sales, they ultimately allowed local promotions to expand their reach across the Southwest.
