On a slow, crumbling pitch that made batting extremely difficult, Yuvraj Singh played one of the finest innings of his ODI career. Walking in with India under pressure at 131/4, Yuvraj unleashed a breathtaking counterattack, smashing 103 off just 76 balls with 10 fours and 3 sixes. Supported brilliantly by Suresh Raina's valuable 61, Yuvraj added a match-defining 142-run partnership that transformed India's innings from a struggling position into a formidable total of 294. Earlier, Rahul Dravid's patient 46 and Irfan Pathan's useful contribution helped India recover after Virender Sehwag's early dismissal. England's chase never really gained momentum as Irfan Pathan's clever slower deliveries dismantled the top order.
