At the arena, Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels got into a backstage fight where Bret pulled Shawn's hair out of HBK's head, leading to Michaels requesting his release. Shawn confirmed that he wanted to leave the WWF to join Kevin Nash & Scott Hall in WCW / nWo, but Vince McMahon would not grant Michaels his release. The Bret Hart / Shawn Michaels fight quickly became the talk of the wrestling business with the story getting covered by major outlets (Bret even said that the WWF covered the news on their premium hotline). Both Hart and Michaels didn't appear on Raw afterwards with Shawn walking out and Bret getting sent home - and Michaels wouldn't re-appear until the middle of July. Bret was back the following week.
