On June 19, 2025, at the Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan, WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. defended his title against Japanese contender Jin Sasaki in his first world title defense on foreign soil. Coming into the fight, Norman Jr. was 27–0 (21 KOs), while Sasaki held a record of 19–1–1 (17 KOs). Norman made a devastating start, scoring two knockdowns in the opening round with his sharp timing and explosive power. Sasaki showed tremendous heart by surviving the early onslaught and continued pressing forward, but he struggled to cope with Norman's speed and precision. Norman remained in complete control throughout the fight, repeatedly landing clean combinations before ending the contest in spectacular fashion. In the fifth round, he landed a crushing left hook that knocked Sasaki unconscious, prompting an immediate stoppage.
