On January 13, 2023, at the Videotron Centre in Quebec, Canada, Artur Beterbiev defended his WBC, IBF, and WBO light-heavyweight titles against Britain's Callum Smith. Beterbiev systematically dismantled Smith, showcasing his superior power and technique. In the seventh round, Beterbiev's relentless assault led to two knockdowns, prompting Smith's corner to halt the bout, resulting in a seventh-round stoppage victory for Beterbiev. This win maintained Beterbiev's perfect record, with all 20 of his victories coming by knockout. Smith, a former super-middleweight champion, suffered only the second defeat of his professional career.
