The Brazilian crossed paths with the future UFC middleweight champion twice and emerged victorious both times. But I would disagree. Pereira's first encounter with Adesanya came in April 2016 at Glory of Heroes 1. 'Poatan' won a decision in the first fight but somewhat controversially. In this video we take a look at the footage and break down why "Stylebender" should have picked up the win in that contest. It was a highly competitive bout showcasing the skills of both men! With Poatan leaving no question in the rematch, scoring a highlight reel knockout, he left kickboxing with 2 wins over Adesanya. With the rematch looming toward the end of 2022; who will have the last laugh? Will Poatan win for a 3rd time? Or will Stylebender avenge his losses and retain his UFC Middleweight title? With it being in MMA, with longer rounds, smaller gloves, added techniques like elbows, as well as all the grappling elements and the fact the action can carry on once on the mat, it really is an intriguing contest. Since the losses Israel has looked unbeatable in MMA at Middleweight, basically lapping the division. Meanwhile Poatan had a decent reign as Glory champion before coming in to the UFC and running through the competition. His last win over Strickland was another one for the highlight reel. A very high-stakes bout and I can't wait!
